Q1        What is Fleetwood Trust?

Fleetwood Trust is a local charity developed by local people to create aspirational sustainable community provision within the old Fleetwood Hospital site. Our mission is ‘To Empower the Community of Fleetwood to Improve their lives and Reach their Full Potential’.

Q2        What is Fleetwood Trust doing with Fleetwood Hospital?

Fleetwood Trust aim is to create a Community Hub. The specific details are not yet finalised and the Trust will be flexible based on community need. It is likely to include:

  • Community Kitchen and Dining space – meals, Food Bank, Cooking Lessons ect.

  • Community Space – where all are welcome.

  • 32 Bed Intermediate Care Ward operated by NHS.

  • Quiet Space/Faith Space/Reading Rooms.

  • Activity Spaces – Gym, Art, Dance, Yoga, Games ect.

  • Youth Facilities

  • Meeting Rooms

  • Business Incubator – a place where entrepreneurs in the town can develop and establish new businesses that will create jobs.

  • Job Seeking Support – CV, Interview skills, clothes supply, showers.

  • Financial Support – Benefits, Budgeting, Mortgages, Debt ect.

  • Life Skills – DIY, Landlords/leases ect.

Q3        How long will the development take?

Part of the work has already been completed, the building now has a new roof and we plan to replace the windows by July 2019. However, we envisage that the rest of the development work will take up to 3 years to complete.

 

Q4        How will this be funded?

The Trust has received two large donations which has funded the purchase of the building and also the new roof. We are however requesting donations and sponsorship to replace the windows through the Framing Futures Window Appeal which was launched 6th June 2019. In addition to sponsorship/donations we are applying for grant funding.

Q5        What is the Princes Foundation and the 7 at 70 project?

In December 2018 it was announced that this project has been selected as one of HRH Prince Charles 7 for 70 projects for his 70th year. 7 Community Projects will be supported by The Princes Foundation across Great Britain with Fleetwood Trust being the project chosen for the North-West.
