More community facilities to open soon

It's around 6 weeks since The Pantry opened at the former hospital building, the first of the new community facilities on the site.

The Fleetwood Trust covered the design and build costs before handing over the shop unit and suite of rooms to Faith in the Community, a new home for the Fleetwood Foodbank and The Mustard Seed.

Of course these are very challenging times and there is already a great deal of demand for help from The Pantry, a part of the amazing Fleetwood Together network.

Around 200 residents are being supported at the moment, receiving food collected from suppliers and from donations, distributed by a wonderful team of volunteers.

When the Fleetwood Trust purchased the building two years ago, the vision was and is about creating a hub to deliver support by the community and for the community.

The events of this extraordinary year have delayed our progress a little but we are delighted to announce a second facility will be opening soon.

The Volunteer Centre Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde will be working from a purpose-built space on the North Albert Street frontage. As the nation awaits further details of the new COVID-19 guidelines and for social distancing, the Centre will confirm their activity soon. In the meantime, we look forward to working with their team of staff and volunteers.
