... a project set up by the Kinnon family which takes unwanted bicycles, refurbishes them and them donates them to NHS staff working across the Fylde Coast.
Originally based in Thornton and working on the bikes in their back garden, then from a room at Church on the Corner in Thornton the group is now using space at Fleetwood Hospital as a workshop. Over 50 have already been issued to staff with a waiting list of another 100!
Francis, Bev and Ben Kinnon came up with the idea when they were getting back into cycling for their own fitness and thought that NHS staff might need the bikes at a time when transport services are running reduced timetables. It's also an opportunity for the staff to get some exercise and unwind from their day-to-day work.
If you'd like to know more there's a video from BBC North West to watch on their Facebook page at https://bit.ly/bikesforheroesBBCNW and you can support the initiative by making a donation on the Go Fund Me page.
Fleetwood Trust is delighted to be involved and look forward to helping this wonderful project grow in the future.
